BILLIARD LEAGUE CLOSED FOR THE SEASON
Source: Alton Evening Telegraph, March 05, 1915
The Champion Billiard Players’ League closed the season last
Saturday, twelve days earlier than the schedule, owing to a number
of the players suffering from “La Grippe,” and the great strain
under which they have been subject to for the past five months would
not enable them to play the billiards of which they were capable.
President Mank decided to close the playing schedule twelve days in
advance of the proposed route.
George Sutton won the championship with Demarest and Cline a very
close second and third, which for the last four weeks furnished a
very exciting finish. Albert Cutler finished fourth with Yamada, the
“Tough Luck” player, fifth.
Plans are now being made by Mr. Mank for next season for a pocket
billiard league, consisting of 24 players, a bulk line league to
consist of 8 players, also a three cushion league, which will
consist of 6 players.
